Arthouse Contemporary announces 24th auction online
Arthouse Contemporary an international auction house based in Lagos, Nigeria has announced its twenty-fourth edition of its Modern and Contemporary Art Auction, it will be taking place online on the Invaluable auction webstite. According to a statement from Arthouse, “For the first time, Arthouse Contemporary will conduct its Modern and Contemporary Art Auction online, due to the restrictions of social gatherings during the pandemic”,the event is scheduled to run from June 9-15, 2020.
The ongoing pandemic has force several art establishments worldwide to go online in continuing business in order to beat the ravaging diseases. Most galleries that are open have resorted to having limited clients visitation.
The auction house listed artists whose works will go under the gavel to include masters as well as leading contemporary artists ranging from Ben Enwonwu,, Bruce Onobrakpeya and Duke Asidere , Peju Alatishe.
The auction will include 96 lots of artworks from the modern period and cutting edge contemporary art. Featured masters will include Ben Enwonwu, Akinola Lasekan, Bruce Onobrakpeya, Okpu Eze, Ben Osawe, Abayomi Barber, Kolade Oshinowo, Abiodun Olaku, Chuks Anyanwu, David Dale and Jimoh Buraimoh.
Leading contemporary artists include Peju Alatise, Rom Isichei, Alimi Adewale, Chike Obeagu, Gerald Chukwuma, Sokari Douglas Camp, Jerry Buhari, Eva Obodo, Victor Ekpuk, Duke Asidere, Ben Osaghae, Chidi Kwuibiri, Sam Ovraiti, and Ngozi-Omeje Ezema, among others.
International artists from outside of Nigeria include Ablade Glover, Kofi Agorsor, Dominique Zinkpe, Armand Boua, Kofi Setordji, Leonce Raphael Agbodjelou and Camara Amadu Guyeye. The auction also features prints by Ben Enwonwu, Uzo Egonu, Yinka Shonibare and David Dale.
