A poem by Chidi Nebo titled Stilleto inspired by a painting bearing same title
Stilleto
koin-koin
sound announcing
your arrival.
with peacock arrogance
you rap
repeatedly
on the door of my consciousness.

what would you want, woman-
to see me cower
under the influence
of your borrowed fashion?
then I see you totter
on the high hill
of those heels that heed not warnings.
then I watch the tower come crashing
as you take untutored steps.
your plumage plucked by pride
flutter
float
and scatter
like confetti across the skies.
